12 pencils at a rate of 1$
so for 200$ = 200*12= 2400pencils you get in 2006
and then it used 3/4
so 3/4(2400)=1800
remaining pencils for 2007 = 2400-1800= 600
same amount of pencils needed for 2007 so it requires 1200 more to have 1800 pencils like in 2006
so ans is 1200 pencils have to buy to have enough pencils
In 2006 an agency spent $200.00 to buy pencils at a cost of $1.00 a dozen. If the agency used 3/4 of these pencils in 2006 and used the same number of pencils in 2007, how many MORE pencils did it have to buy to have enough pencils all of 2007?

950
The answer is 2400.
Remember the agency used 3/4 of total in 2006 which was 1800. They used the same number of pencils in 2007. The total is 3600 for both years. Then there were 600 left each year which will give us the total of 1200.
So: 3600-1200=2400
