In 1931, Harriet Richardson Ames became a teacher. Later, she spent 20 years as a teaching principal. However, Ames wanted to go back to school. While teaching, she took college classes. She stopped in 1971. She could no longer see well. In 2009, college leaders heard about Ames. They did some checking. Ames had taken enough classes. She had earned her degree. Ames was so happy! She was 100 years old.
