if I use 4, my answer is
36/5-4/5
7.25-4/5 = 3.25/5 or .65

is this correct, if not what am I doing wrong?

That doesn't look right.

First, 36/5 = 7.2 (not 7.25)

Secondly, you should do all multiplication first, then do subtraction.

9*4/5 - 4/5
7.2 - 0.8 = 6.4
