i'm doing a project on choosing some "status symbols" popular in society today. one status symbol i did was the restaurant called cheesecake factory, how do i explain how it is popular/important today?

In your area, the Cheesecake Factory may be the place that people you admire hang out.

that is actually true, but why is it so popular? could it be because of the brand name, or advertisement?

It could be. But I suspect that a couple of people who are admired like it -- and so draw others. Do other restaurants in your area serve similar food? Is it convenient for you and your friends?
