If you want to add 2/3 and 3/5, you will find the LCM of the denominators then divide the LCM by the denominators and multiply it with the numerators then add it...

i.e.

2/3 + 3/5 , LCM = 15

15/3 x 2 = 10
15/5 x 3 = 9

2/3 + 3/5
= 10/15 + 9/15
= 19/15 or 1 4/15
