If a force of 300N is exerted upon a 60 kg mass for 4 seconds, how much impulse does the mass experience?

3 answers

Impulse=force*timeinseconds
i solve it but i am not sure that they need the impulse , i think they need the velocity that will act on it !
because they say how much impulse does the mass experience ..

impulse = change in momentum
impulse = m x v
1200 = 60 x v
1200\60 = 60 x v \ 60
v= 20 ms-1 ????
Impluse is change of momentum, or force*time

Not velocity. If you are looking for the change in velocity, then

F*time=mass* velocitychange
and you can solve for that

300*4 N-s=60kg*Vchange
Vchange=20m/s
