if 8.99g of scandium and 8.99g of oxgen react to give scandium oxide and a leftover 3.56g.what percentage of scandium oxide is the oxygen

1 answer

I don't think the problem is made up to be a REAL problem.
SCxOy is the compound.
8.99 g Sc used.
8.99-3.56 = 5.43 g O used.
Total mass ScxOy = 8.99+5.43 = 14.42
%O = (5.43/14.42)*100 = ? but in REAL Sc2O3 the %O is 34.8%.
