If 23% of the cars that pass by your house each day are red, 12% green, 4% yellow, and 31% black; what is the probability the next car to pass your house will be red or yellow? (Assume every car is only a single color). I have to pick which formula to use. These are the formulas:
p(A and B) = p(A) x p(B)
p(A or B) = p(A) + p(B) - p(A and B)
p(A and B) = p(A) x p(B)
p(A or B) = p(A) + p(B) - p(A and B)

"Red OR Yellow" should be a giveaway.
Here P(A and B)=0 because a red car is not yellow.
P(A)+P(B)=0.12+0.04 = 0.16

P(A)+P(B)=0.12+0.04 = 0.16
