Convert mols Si to mols SiCl4 using the coefficients in the balanced equation.
Convert mols Cl2 to mols SiCl4 the same way.
It is likely these two numbers will not be the same which means one of them is not right; the correct value in limiting reagent problems is ALWAYS the smaller value and the reagent producing that value is the limiting reagent.
Using the smaller value for mols SiCl4, convert to grams. g = mols x molar mass.
That is the theoretical yield.
Actual yield = theor yield x 0.75 = ?
Then use mass = volume x density to convert to volume.
if 15.0g Si and 30.0g Chlorine gas are reacted together, what vol. of SiCl4 will be produced assuming a 75% yield? Density of SiCl4 =1.483g/ml.
