Identify the vertex, intercepts, and zeros of the function.

g(x) = x^2 + 8x + 11

Please help!!

1 answer

complete the square to change to vertex form

g(x) = x^2 + 8x + 11
= x^2 + 8x + 16 - 16 + 11
= (x+4)^2 - 5

vertex (-4,-5)
y=intercept is 11

x-intercept, gives us the zeros

let y = 0
(x+4)^2 - 5 = 0
(x+4)^2 = 5
x+4 = ± √5
x = -4 ± √5
