Identify a formal, functional, or perceptual region from your own life. This can be a place that you currently live in or have lived in in the past. What characteristics define this region? Do you feel that this region has shaped some part of who you are or how you view the world? How does this region differ from the regions your classmates have chosen? How are they the same?

One formal region that I have lived in is the suburbs of a major city. This region is characterized by residential neighborhoods, shopping centers, schools, and parks. The boundaries of this region are defined by certain zip codes and town lines.

Living in the suburbs has definitely shaped a part of who I am and how I view the world. It has provided me with a sense of safety and security, as well as easy access to amenities and services. The organized layout and infrastructure of the suburbs have also influenced my lifestyle, encouraging a more car-dependent way of getting around and engaging in daily activities.

In comparison to my classmates, who have chosen regions such as rural areas, urban neighborhoods, or coastal towns, the suburbs may be perceived as more homogeneous. While there is diversity in terms of demographics and individual backgrounds, the overall characteristics of the suburbs tend to be more standardized. However, like my classmates' chosen regions, the suburbs also offer a unique sense of community and shape the experiences and perspectives of those who live there.

Overall, each region chosen by my classmates and myself has its own distinct identity and characteristics, shaping our lives in different ways. However, they all contribute to our overall understanding of the world and our place within it.
