I understand that the plasma membrane is composed of a polar head and non polar tail. I read in my textbook that small non-polar molecules readily pass through and that polar and non-polar repel. so how do non-polar substance pass the the polar head? please explain.

Since this is not my area of expertise, I searched Google under the key words "how do non-polar substance pass the the polar head" to get these possible sources:

http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=how+do+non-polar+substance+pass+the+the+polar+head&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

In the future, you can find the information you desire more quickly, if you use appropriate key words to do your own search. Also see http://hanlib.sou.edu/searchtools/.
