I think of a number and multiply it by 3, I add 6 to it and then divide by 5. The result is 2. Find the number

1 answer

x = number

( 3 x + 6 ) / 5 = 2

Multiply both sides by 5

3 x + 6 = 10

Subtract 6 to both sides.

3 x = 4

x = 4 / 3

Check result:

x = 4 / 3

3 ∙ x = 3 ∙ 4 / 3 = 4

4 + 6 = 10

10 / 5 = 2
