As a "buffer" you would make some statement about how important his/her/their business is.
After stating the problem(s), give reasons for the problems and options — definitely more than one — that you think are acceptable. Invite the client to offer any other options that might be acceptable.
At the end, restate the "buffer" and your hopes for a speedy and satisfactory resolution to the problem(s).
