4 answers

31 * 9 * 6
-----------
6 * 11 * 17

Now 31, 11 and 17 are prime numbers, so we are stuck with them. However we can divide top and bottom by 6, common factor.

31 * 9
-------
11 * 17

= 279/187
Multiply the numerators and denominators across.

Then simplify your fraction to the lowest term.

31/6 x 9/11 x 6/17 =

31 x 9 x 6 = 1674 (our numerator product)

6 x 11 x 17 = 1122 (our denominator product)

We now have:

1674/1122 as the new fraction.

When reduced to the lowest term we get:

279/187

This is the problem
3 1/6 * 9/11 * 6/17
I have to choose
A. 1 1/170
B. 27/187
C. 1 171/187
D. 171/187

I choose D
Oh, now you say 3 1/6 or 19/6
first you said 31/6
so
19/6 * 9/11 * 6/17
get rid of the 6 as before
19*9/(11*17) = 171/187
