I need to compare and contrast 2 different river valley civilizations
I've chosen Sumer and Indus Valley Civilization (Ill call it them S and IVC)
Can someone check my answers? and help me with ones I don't know?
1) In what present-day countries can the sites of your civilizations be found?
Sumer is Located in modern-day Iraq, while the IVC is located in regions of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and northwestern India
2) What is the present-day name of the river(s) around which your chosen
civilizations were based?
IVC- The modern name for the river is the Indus river
S- The names for the Tigris and Euphrates rivers have stayed the same
3) What is the climate today in the region of the ancient civilizations?
The temperature in Iraq is mostly in the 50 degrees Farenheight during November.
The temperature in Afghanistan is in the 40s during November
4) How did the people of the civilizations use the river?
Archeologists think Farmers in the Indus Valley Civilization used the river water to irrigate their fields.
The people of Sumer used the Tigris and Euphrates rivers to irrigate their farms and move from one riverside city to the next
5) How did the people of the civilizations deal with flooding of the river?
Sumerians dug irrigation ditches and built levees
Indus River Civilians used plumbing like systems to move water throughout their crops if the rivers flooded.
6) What type of government did each civilization have? How was power passed through generations?
Sumer had a government that was a combination of monarchy and democracy. The kingdoms of Sumer were organized into city-states and the Kings ruled each city-state for the gods.
The Indus Valley had a Monarchy, so they had a Raja or King rule.
7) What was the social structure in each of the civilizations?
In Sumer, there was an upper class, a common class, and a bottom class. in the upper class, there were priests and landowners, and government officials.
In the Indus Civilization, they used the caste system, people were born into their classes and couldn't move up or down.
8) What technological advancements were created by each civilization?
Sumer had the advancement of writing, while the Indus Valley had the Irrigation system.
9)What religions did people in each civilization practice? Did any other religions emerge in either region?
Sumerians were Polytheistic, So they worshipped many gods.
The Indus Valley religion is polytheistic and is made up of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism
10) What relationship did the government have with religion?
In Sumer, there was the main temple in the middle of a city-state.
The Indus Valley was ruled by religion.

But I don't think the website has Sumer. It does have Indus, Mesopotamia, Egypt, and China. I hope this helps.
