Set up a ratio/proportion:
(1/3 oz)/(40 lbs)=(x oz)/150 lb.
Solve for x oz. Cross multiply to obtain
(1/3)*150 = 40*x
50 = 40x
x=50/40 = ?? in decimal format.
Check my thinking. Check my numbers.

how about a simple ratio
1/3 : 40 = x : 150
40x = (1/3)150
x = 50/40 = 5/4 = 1.25
he should prescribe 1.25 ounces
1/3 : 40 = x : 150
40x = (1/3)150
x = 50/40 = 5/4 = 1.25
he should prescribe 1.25 ounces
