i need help.

the answer is the ratio of 4:2:1.
A man makes a will and dies leaving his wife pregnant. His will disposes of 100 ecus such that if his wife has a daughter, the mother should take twice as much as the daughter, but if she has a son, he should have twice as much as the mother. [Sexist problem!] The mother gives birth to twins, a son and a daughter. How should the estate be split, respecting the father’s intentions?
Let S= son, W = wife, and D=daughter
S+D+W= 100
So S = 4W and D=2W
then 4w+2w+w= 100 ecus
7w=100
w= 14(2/7), my answer is not correct
and i got stuck. tell me what went wrong?/

3 answers

s = 2 w
w = 2 d
so
s = 4 d
w = 2 d

4 d + 2 d + d = 100
7 d = 100
so
d = 100/7 (not the wife)

check
if d = 100/7
w = 200/7
and
s = 400/7
thank you damon.
You are welcome.
