i need help on a question that involves finding the "value of the variable" ive started the question but im stuck of how to continue .its a right triangle which hypotenus length is cut by a altitude line "w+9" .the lengths cut are 8 and 18 .

recall that the length of the altitude is the geometric mean of the two segments of the hypotenuse. That is,
w+9 = √(8*18) = 12
w+9 = √(8*18) = 12
