I know that there is not just one answer for this question but in your personal view, what did most countires plan to acheive after WWII? What was the main goal?

PEACE!

After the devastation of two world wars within 30 years, most Europeans and eastern Asians placed peace and comfortable lives at the top of their achievement wish-list. Even the Soviet Union, which would have liked to dominate the world, still wanted peace and prosperity. The advent of the atomic bomb also was so scary, that its threat helped preserve the peace after WW II.
