I keep getting the same answer but it is wrong. How do I work this?

M is the midpoint of AB. The coordinates of A are (-4, -2) and the coordinates of B are (9,-6). What are the coordinates of M?

1 answer

the midpoint is just the average of the two ends, so its coordinates are

x = (-4+9)/2 = 5/2
y = (-2-6)/2 = -4

So, M = (5/2,-4)

It would be better had you posted your work, so we could verify accuracy or note mistakes.

Also, answer keys are sometimes wrong, so that's always something to consider.
