I just googled 'what is a consecutive number'. I kind of understand what it means, but I need to know what two consecutive numbers add to 257.

257 / 2 = 128.5

128 + 129 = 257
Ok, so if the number was even, would you do the same thing?

Ok. So there can't be a consecutive number "set" when the number is a even number?
You could have a three consecutive number set with an even number.

19 + 20 + 21 = 60

Or you could have three consecutive even numbers that add up to an even number.

18 + 20 + 22 = 60
