SO SORRY. PLEASE DISREGARD THE FIRST PROBLEM. I DID NOT POST THE ORIGINAL MATH PROBLEM. THIS IS THE ORIGINAL MATH PROBLEM 5 (3+4X) -5 = 130; 15+20x -5 =130;
20x +10 = 130;
20x +10-10 = 130 -10
20x/20x = 120/20x
x = 6
Thank you
I have worked this problem out and just need confirmation. 15 + 2x - 5 = 130;
2x + 10 - 10 = 130 -10;
2x/2x = 120/2x;
x = 60.

6 is correct. However, your last step is not quite correct.
starting with...
20x + 10 - 10 = 130 - 10
20x = 120
Now divide both sides by 20, not 20x
20x/20 = 120/20
x = 6
starting with...
20x + 10 - 10 = 130 - 10
20x = 120
Now divide both sides by 20, not 20x
20x/20 = 120/20
x = 6
Thank you! I had thought something was wrong with the last step but could not figure it out. You were a great help!
You're welcome.
