Check the map and the driving directions on Mapquest.
First you'll need to determine the distance, by highways, from your town to Miami.
You'll need to stop for gas about every 300 miles (18 * 20 = 360).
If you travel on expressways, then your average speed should be about 65 mph without stops. This accounts for occasonal slow-downs for traffic.
We'll be glad to help you more if you show us what you've done so far.
I have to plan a route from my hometown to Miami, FL. Gas has to be purchased within 2 miles of starting point, 20 gallon gas tank - 18 miles to a gallon. Round trip completed within 48 hours. I do not know the steps to complete this assignment. I only know how to start point and end point on mapquest. Need to stop specific towns enroute and get gas whenever needed and eat two meals a day. PLEASE HELP

It is 1328 miles from my school to Miami, FL.
You'll need to stop for gas 4 times each way -- so for the round trip, you'll need to get gas 8 times.
In 48 hours, you'll need to eat 4 times (at 2 meals a day).
This doesn't seem to be a realistic assignment. Your round trip will be 2656 miles. Dividing 2656 by 48 hours -- you'll need to average over 55 mph -- a near impossibility given traffic and stops for gas and meals.
Please check with your teacher to make sure these figures are correct.
