I have to find the slope using {0,7}, {-4,2} to write an equation in slope-intercept form. Can someone check my work?

2 - 7 5
m = ———— >>> m = - ————
-4 - 0 4

Notice by looking at your post, that it is very hard to write out fractions
in our format, use this instead:

slope = (7-2)/(0-(-4)) = 5/4
so the equation must be y = (5/4)x + b
but we can see from the point (0,7) that the y-intercept is 7

so ...... y = (5/4)x + 7
Your teacher is using (y2 - y1)/((x2-x1)
thus your numbers are correct.
Reiny will get the same result but his work looks a bit different. Both are 100% correct, it is whichever you are most happy with : )

Wouldn't slope = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)?

I understand. Thanks Reiny and Ms Pi_3.14159265358979 for the help. :)
