I have to do a literary essay on "Romeo and Juliet". My topic is, "Romeo's downfall was as a result of errors or mistakes he made in his judgement and the influence of fate.Discuss"

I'd set up the paper like this:

I. Intro, including thesis statement
II. Romeo's mistakes (name them)
III. Romeo's mistakes explained
IV. Fate/Destiny - define and explain
V. Fate/Destiny in the play (Identify 3 or 4 places in the play where you see "fate" at work)
VI. Did fate cause Romeo to make his mistakes? (Explain your answer, using quotations from the play.)
VII. Conclusion

Follow the writing process, whether you're writing for science, history, English, or whatever:

Prewriting: Brainstorm, research, plan, outline, thesis statement

Writing: Write first draft by starting with section II of your outline; write the introduction after the body of the paper is written; write the conclusion last.

Polishing: Revise, concentrating first on the body of the paper, then the intro, then the concl (revision = making sure ideas are logical and sequential and support your thesis); proofread (spelling, grammar, usage, etc.)
