The fundamental attribution error describes the tendency by one person to over-value personality based explanations for observed behaviors of another person while at the same time under-valuing his or her specific situation. Since I work in the education field, I will provide an example that relates to my profession. I work in an elementary school and have witnessed many teachers automatically accuse a student of being lazy when he or she came to school without their homework. The teacher formed this conclusion without any regard to the that led the student to not be able to complete their homework. situation
