Your introductory paragraph is fine without the last sentence. The last sentence seems to answer your question. These answers and their evidence can be in the following paragraphs. What are you using as a comparison? In other words, what are you classifying as "non-junk" food?
I would change the second sentence for clarity and so the verbs match.
They drink sodas and eat junk food, such as candy bars, chips and cookies.
