I have a data set for MLB teams. the assignment is to form a hypothesis based on the set.

h0- Teams with higher attendance will have a better ERA

h1- attendance will not effect the ERA

Preform a 5 step hypothesis test and show work for z and t test. I am not sure what kind of z or t test to run to get my answer?

I don't know what you mean by a "five step hypothesis test."

Ho = no effect (null hypothesis)
H1 = mean for low attendance is significantly different from mean for high attendance

You want Z for difference between means.

Z = (mean1 - mean2)/Standard error (SE) of difference between means

SEdiff = √(SE1^2 + SE2^2)

SE = SD/√n

I hope this helps.
