I don't quite get the formula "w=(fd)" i understand what to do once you get the data, but i can't seem to ever get the data from the six basic machines, and converting the measurement units. I really need help, please

W=fd means Work equals force times distance. Work is energy. This means that work, or energy is used when you apply a force for a distance. Since W equals energy, you can have 1/2mv^2 = (m*a)(distance). Work is in units of kg*m^2/s^2 and force is in units of (N) Newtons or kgm/s^2.
