you want to convert mi to in.
since 3/10 in = 7/8 mi
(3/10 in)/(7/8 mi) = (7/8 mi)/(3/10 in) = 1
you can always multiply by 1 without changing things, so pick the representation of 1 which cancels the unit you don't want:
1 mi * (3/10 in)/(7/8 mi) = (3/10)/(7/8) = 24/70 = 12/35 in
I don't know which one I should make the reciprocal.
Convert the map scale to a unit rate. How many inches represent one mile?
3/10 in.=7/8 mi.
I just need help choosing which one I should make the reciprocal, I can do the rest.

Can someone tell me which one I need to flip and not give me the rest of the steps to do it? Please? I can do the problem on my own but I only need one sliver of help, and that's which fraction I need to turn upside down to finish the problem. both responses I've gotten are not the way I just learned in my lesson. Can someone please give me the information I'm asking for?
Clearly you did not read Steve's response.
He showed you which fraction to use, and the way to tell in general.

Actually I did read Steve's response, he gave me the process that I did not learn and I asked for the reciprocal. The process that I need to do is to;
Multiply the other fraction by the reciprocal
Either turn that fraction into a mixed number or simplify it.
I just need the reciprocal.

I'm supposed to flip 7/8. That was all I wanted.
