I am writing an essay on a courageous United States elected official and cannot pick a subject to write about. The official must have been elected since 1956; presidents are not recommended subjects. Any ideas? Any ideas?

You can also use Google to search for <b>congressmen elected after 1956</b> or other search terms. And, of course, you can search for other elected offices.

Thanks! I did some prior research, and I think I will write about the current local mayor, although I am still undecided.

I changed my mind. I am doing it on Christine Todd Whitman, the first and so far only female governor of New Jersey. Thanks again for the help!
