I am really confused about this. If anyone can help it would be great! I already talked to my teacher about it and I still don't get it. I looked in my book, still no. Can anyone tell me please?

How does density affect the speed of light? How does this compare to density and the speed of sound?

Thank you for the looking at my question and taking the time to help me!

This is 7th grade science. I am not good with Light Waves and Sound Waves.

You can Google these and get a large amount of information. Reading several of the articles will help clear up some of your confusion. For sound waves, try this on for size.
Sound travels through a medium (air, water, metal pipes/rails/etc, and other objects. How does it do that. For metal, for example, remember that metals consists of atoms (say iron) and these atoms are very close to one another. The energy of the sound wave is transferred to one atom which starts vibrating more violently. That atom bumps into another close atom of iron which in turn starts vibrating and moving more violently. It transfers that energy on to the next atom of iron etc. In this manner the sound wave moves from the generating source through the iron rod/rail/etc until it gets to the other end. The process is exactly the same for air, metal, any other object. So the process is the same no matter what the medium is. Here comes the density part. Air is less dense than water. The molecules of air are farther apart than the molecules in water and the molecules in a metal are even closer to each other than in air or water. The closer the atoms are to one another the faster those particles can bump into one another. So the more dense a material the faster the sound wave can travel through that material.
