I am learning about simple machines. What does high gear and low gear in bicycles mean? Please give a simple explanation.

In high gear, the wheel turns many times for each revolution of the pedals. In low gear (which is easier for climbing hills), the ratio of wheel revolutions to pedal revolutions is much less.
