I am doing a project based on the Northeast of the 1830s and it requires that I have graphs or statistics to argue that my section is important to the country.

I am having a hard time finding any useful material. Help would be very much appreciated!

That area was important in shipping, fishing, shipbuilding, ship repair, manufacturing, furniture making during that time frame. Surely you can find some information on that. Why was the Erie canal opened at that time? Wasn't that important?
