i also need help in this:

i am up to this part of a problem but i can not continue
i have to simplify the following

x = (-2 +/- sqrt 124)/(4)

so i know that sqrt 124 = 2 sqrt 31
so now i am not sure if i do the following

-2/4 + 2sqrt31 / 4 = -1/2 + ?
