Please explain. One has to know how many significant digits there are before it can be rounded.

1.548937075 x 10 to the 12th. Would you do the problem 1.548937075 x 10 to the 12th which would be 1,548,937,075,000 first before you rounded. I think in the number that I got (1,548,937,075,000) there are 10 significant numbers??

If you didn't do the power of 10 and just kept the number 1.548937075 wouldn't it be rounded to 1.55 if it was round to 3 significant numbers?
