how would I solve this using ELIMINATION not substitution

-2x+3y=1
-4x+y=-3

multiply top one by 2 or bottom one by 3

I will do the 3 times the bottom
-2 x + 3 y = 1
-12x + 3 y = -9
--------------- subtract
10 x = 10
x = 1 and you will find y = 1 as well
