Here's a simple recipe to make egg rolls:
Ingredients:
- 1 package of egg roll wrappers
- 1 pound of ground pork or chicken
- 1 cup of shredded cabbage
- 1 cup of shredded carrots
- 1 cup of bean sprouts
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
- Cooking oil for frying
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. In a large pan or skillet, heat some cooking oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for a minute until fragrant.
2. Add the ground pork or chicken to the pan and cook until it is no longer pink. Break it up into small pieces as it cooks.
3. Add the shredded cabbage, carrots, and bean sprouts to the pan. Stir fry for about 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are slightly wilted.
4. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Pour this sauce over the filling mixture and stir everything together. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
5. Remove the pan from the heat and let the filling cool down a bit.
6. Take an egg roll wrapper and place it with one corner facing you. Add a spoonful of the filling in the center of the wrapper.
7. Fold the bottom corner up over the filling, then fold in the left and right corners to the center (like an envelope), and finally roll it up tightly towards the top corner. You can moisten the edges with a bit of water to help seal the egg roll.
8. Repeat this process with the remaining wrappers and filling until you have used them all up.
9. In a large deep skillet or pot, heat some cooking oil over medium-high heat. Carefully place the egg rolls in the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until they turn golden brown on all sides. This will take about 3-4 minutes. Make sure to turn them occasionally for even cooking.
10. Remove the cooked egg rolls from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess oil.
11. Serve the egg rolls hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce.
