1 answer

Here is a recipe to make Church's Fried Okra:

Ingredients:
- 1 pound fresh okra
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions:
1. Wash and trim the ends of the okra pods. Slice them into 1/2-inch thick pieces.
2. Place the sliced okra in a bowl and pour the buttermilk over it. Let it soak for about 10 minutes.
3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, paprika, and garlic powder.
4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep-fryer to 350°F (175°C).
5. Drain the okra from the buttermilk and dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring it is fully coated.
6. Carefully place a small batch of the coated okra into the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Make sure to not overcrowd the pan.
7. Use a slotted spoon or tongs to remove the fried okra from the oil and transfer it to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
8. Repeat the frying process with the remaining coated okra.
9. Serve hot and enjoy as a delicious side dish or snack!

Note: Remember to handle hot oil with caution and always be mindful of kitchen safety when frying.
