How to make church’s chicken sandwich?

1 answer

Church's Chicken Sandwich Recipe:

Ingredients:
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust according to taste)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Hamburger buns
- Mayonnaise
- Pickles
- Lettuce and tomato (optional)

Instructions:
1. Start by pounding the chicken breasts to an even thickness. You can place the chicken between two pieces of plastic wrap or place it in a ziplock bag and pound it with a meat tenderizer or rolling pin.
2. Cut the chicken breasts either in half or into sandwich-sized pieces.
3. Place the chicken in a bowl and pour the buttermilk over it. Make sure the chicken is fully coated. Allow it to marinate for at least 1 hour, or for best results, marinate it overnight in the refrigerator.
4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine all the spices evenly.
5. Preheat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to about 350°F or medium-high heat if you don't have a thermometer.
6. Take each piece of chicken out of the buttermilk, allowing any excess liquid to drip off, then dredge it in the flour mixture, making sure it is fully coated.
7. Carefully place the chicken into the hot oil and fry for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F.
8. Once cooked, transfer the chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
9. Optionally, toast the hamburger buns in the oven or on a skillet with a little butter until lightly browned.
10. Assemble the sandwich by spreading mayonnaise on both bun halves. Place a chicken breast on the bottom bun and top with pickles. Add lettuce and tomato, if desired.
11. Serve the Church's Chicken Sandwich immediately and enjoy!

Note: Adjust the spice levels according to your preference. If you prefer a spicier sandwich, you can increase the amount of cayenne pepper or add in some hot sauce to the buttermilk marinade.
