How might readers react if the topic sentences in an essay did not coincide with the supporting points, and why would their reaction be justified?

Obviously, the whole essay would not seem to make sense then. That would just confuse those readers, and they’d be getting wrong information. Therefore, their reaction is justified because they want to be able to read an essay that has proper topic sentences and supporting points; they ought to match.
