How many meters away is a cliff if an echo is heard 0.500 s after the original sound? Assume that sound traveled at 343 m/s on that day.

distance = rate x time
d = 343 m/s x 0.5 s = ?? meters.
But the sound had to travel there AND back to your ear; therefore, take 1/2 of the answer to fiond th edistance to the cliff.
