When people fear that their nation is in danger, they are unified in protecting it and hating the enemy.
War usually brings people together making the same sacrifices -- like the rationing of WWII and the fact that no one could be new cars or household appliances.
How does war create unity? Im going from the perspective of that war brings people together to support the war especially when someone has friends or family members fighting and those back home have the support from other people that are going through the same thing. How else can I expand on this. Thank You.

War accentuates the differences between "us" and "them" and accentuates the similarities among "us." Although it creates within group unity, it also leads to unwarranted prejudices. Consider the change in perception of the Japanese over a half-century ago and now.
