sorry. I put the problem is transportation and the country is united states.
Do most children walk any more? The school bus picks them up or drops them off. Many mothers provide school transportation. They are driven to movies and friends' homes. Are they even permitted to run and play outside?

I live in a medium sized city in Michigan and pay $800 a month for a nice two-bedroom, 950 square foot apartment. One of my granddaughter has a smaller one-bedroom apartment in Chicago and pays over $2,000 a month rent.

The barrier is that children don't have much opportunity to walk and run because they are driven everywhere.
