In Gatsby, doesn't Daisy keep waiving the hook in front of Gatsby?

In both books, men want to believe the sincerity of women, even after it is obvious they are shallow, conniving, and willing to cover up their sins by letting others take the blame.

Think how Daisy and Abigail did this. The fatal flaw was actually in the men,and the women exploited it.
