You can either put 2/4 (= 1/2) as a factor or 4/2 (= 2) in the denominator.
To me, it looks more elegant to avoid fractions when you can, and put the integer 2 in the denominator (in this case).
The answer is (1/2)*x^4 or (x^4)/2
