how do you combine and simplify

(5x/(x^2+x-6))- (6/(x^2-x-2))

Thank you!

1 answer

x^2+x-6 factors to (x+3)(x-2)
x^2-x-2 factors to (x-2(x+1)
so the LCD is (x+3)(x+1)(x-2)

(5x/(x^2+x-6))- (6/(x^2-x-2))
= (5x(x+1)/[(x+3)(x+1)(x-2)] - 6(x+3)/[(x+3)(x+1)(x-2)]

I will let you finish it.
