If you have a calulator TI-30XIIs
put in your numbers 3474.8
on your upper left side press 2nd button;next press the button the right (DRG)
the screen will flash the following:
FLO SCI ENG
with your right arrow(far right side) set it to SCI (scientific mode) press = and it will read you the scientific notation 3.4748 x10 to the 3 power
Or just move the decimal from right to left 3 places and it will give you 3.474 x 10^3 you moved it 3 places so 10 to the 3 power
