How do I get a book published?

There are two ways of getting a book published.

1. Pay for its publication and market it yourself. Then hope that you can sell enough copies to at least recoup your cost.

2. Convince a conventional publisher that it will make money by publishing your book at no cost to you. Most publishing contracts will pay authors a small amount initally and then pay you a percentage of each book sold after a certain amount. Under this system, you send a proposal and a sample of your manuscript to publishers. Most books are rejected because publishers get far more manuscripts than they can profitably publish. If you can convince an agent to market your book to publishers, you have a better chance of publication.
